Orange today announced the availability of the HTC Touch Diamond in its Signature devices range.

Sprint announced that it is offering the industry’s first EV-DO Rev. A-capable handset as part of a software upgrade available for the Mogul by HTC. Introduced in June 2007, the Mogul is a Windows Mobile device operating on the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network and is packed with advanced wireless capabilities to keep users productive and connected for personal and professional reasons — all at SprintSpeed. The new software ROM and downloading instructions are available at www.america.htc.com/mogulupdate.EV-DO Rev. A technology supports faster data rates and higher system capacity enabling users to send and receive large amounts of data at broadband speeds (speeds comparable to basic DSL). Wherever EV-DO Rev. A coverage is available, average download speeds will increase from 400-700 Kbps to 600 Kbps-1.4 Mbps and average upload speeds will increase from 50-70 Kbps to 350-500 Kbps. The Strategy Analytics User Experience Team has released its latest report, “Wireless Device Laboratory: 5-Star Safari Leads Mobile Browsing Experience.” The User Experience team observed and captured the pain points of 50 mobile users who were asked to undertake seven key tasks with the Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera and Mini-map browsers, both in the UK and US.Paul Brown, a Senior Analyst in the User Experience Team noted “Safari received 5-star ratings for five out of the seven attributes rated by participants, including Ease of Accessing the browser, Ease of Entering a Website Address, Ease of Web Page Navigation, Saving a Bookmark and Ease of Returning to Previous Pages.”

David Kerr, Vice President of the Global Wireless Practice, added “Internet Explorer matched Safari in terms of ease of web access and ease of saving a page as a bookmark but could not equal Safari in terms of entering website addresses and overall page navigation.”

Other key findings include:

* Over half of the participants rated Safari as providing the best mobile experience.

* Participants using the Internet Explorer-equipped HTC Touch had difficulty in actually entering an address using the virtual keyboard and stylus;

* Participants using the Mini-Map back navigation feature, as implemented on the Nokia N95, found it useful for familiar sites but less beneficial for new or unfamiliar sites;

* Adding a bookmark was confusing on the Opera Mobile browser as implemented on the T-Mobile Dash.

The HTC Touch also features a 2 mega-pixel camera, a large 2.8-inch colour LCD screen and comes with a 1GB microSD card, giving users the versatility to store, upload and share multimedia content with ease.

Availability - The announcement marks the first time that HTC has introduced an HTC product globally, and comes almost exactly a year after the company launched its first own-branded products in June 2006. The HTC Touch will also be the first HTC-branded product to be sold in Asia. The HTC Touch will be available to customers across Europe and Asia this month, beginning today in the United Kingdom. The HTC Touch will be initially available to Orange customers in the UK, France, Spain and the Netherlands.

T-Mobile will launch a customised version of the device which will be named the MDA Touch across key European markets. The innovative and strong multi-media feature set of the MDA Touch will be a powerful fit to T-Mobile’s web’n'walk proposition.

The HTC Advantage will first be available through T-Mobile (as the T-Mobile ‘Ameo’) in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Austria and Poland starting in March 2007, with HTC versions being released simultaneously in selected countries.

Orange will first launch the HTC S710 (Orange SPV E650) across most of its European markets in the first half of the year as part of its Signature range. The Orange SPV E650 will feature a customised homescreen with icons that provide one-click access to key business functions such as Internet access, email, calendar and contact information.

The HTC P3350 will be available in store from March, through a range of HTC’s operator and distributor partners.
