"Last week, US operator Verizon Wireless announced the CDMA-based Motorola Droid, the first smartphone to come with Android 2.0 which is the latest version of Google's mobile operating system. Unfortunately, there was no news of a GSM/UMTS version--until now. A German blog leaked a photo of the device headed for O2 in Germany. Qualcomm Incorporated and ZTE Corporation announced their collaboration to significantly enhance the capacity and performance of UMTS systems with the integration of Qualcomm's Uplink Interference Cancellation (ULIC) technology into ZTE's next-generation UMTS base station products.
